The American Chestnut: History and Restoration
The American chestnut (Castanea dentata) was a keystone species in Eastern forests until chestnut blight, a fungal pathogen, decimated native populations. Restoration work has been ongoing for close to a century. The American Chestnut Foundation, founded in 1982, plays a key role in working towards species restoration using the most current scientific approaches and engaging citizen scientists across the species' native range. Come learn about the history, current restoration methods, and what's going on locally through TACF's MA/RI chapter.
A recording of this class will be available to all registrants for two weeks after the class.
